I just finished reading Nomadland by Jessica Bruder. The book describes the low wages and unnecessarily cruel working conditions in Amazon warehouses. Wages are so low that the seasonal, migrant thousands who do the work can only afford to live in RVs or their cars.
I quit Amazon long ago, I did not feel Jeff Bezos needed my money. The shipping "issues" also concerned me before I even signed up. Since then I read that Amazon's carbon footprint is as big as Switzerland, which I thought was small given the behemoth world it is. Now when all the shipping for returns is added in......??!! In July 2021, we moved into a small community outside the big city, and I constantly am amazed how the majority of our needs are met within 7km of our home, mostly within walking distance. The wonderful relationships with PEOPLE! we are developing. I am so grateful!
